Our Mission

The Iowa Mission of Mercy is a large-scale, two-day community dental clinic where dental professionals and general volunteers donate their time to provide free oral health care to individuals who face barriers to receiving dental care. A full-service field dental clinic with 100 dental operatories is set up and patients are treated on a first-come/first-served basis. Since the first IMOM in 2008, over 17,736 patients from all areas of the state and beyond have received free dental care totaling over $12.5 million!

Who qualifies for care at IMOM?
Everyone. Regardless of your current dental care regimen or how long it’s been since your last dental visit, the team at IMOM treats every patient that attends the weekend event on a first-come/first-served basis.

What kind of treatments are provided?
The IMOM team provides a wide variety of services such as cleanings, fillings, x-rays, endodontic, periodontic, pediatric, some oral surgeries and more. We encourage patients of all ages with all dental related issues to attend.

Who is providing the care at IMOM?
Thanks to a team of generous volunteers, each patient is treated by the best licensed Dentists, Dental Hygienists, and Dental Assistants from across the state of Iowa. They donate their time and talents to make this event possible year after year.

Are the services really free?
Yes. Our generous team of volunteer dental professionals make it possible for all care provided at IMOM to be absolutely free to each patient.
